In Alexandria five armed robbers attacked the local bank in a dawn battle. Explosions rattled the street, residents fired back, and the robbers fled after a flores battle. Citizen John Lloyd was wounded. money remained intact. It marks a second such attempt in recent days.
Word from Hereford Texas July 14 describes a wholesale riot and killings between Mexican and Negro workmen on the Rock Island extension in New Mexico about 100 miles west. Reports say 15 Negroes were shot to death and several Mexicans killed after a pitched battle that followed the murder of a black worker.
The Grand Lodge of Washington Independent Order of Good Templars opened a four day annual convention in Tacoma with about 150 delegates expected. A brief executive meeting was held this morning and the first business session took place in Parker's hall this afternoon. Delegates arrived by train and boat, and a literary and musical reception was planned for tonight.
A large blaze hit Cold's House and the business main in Wichita injuring three workers as walls collapsed. Initial estimates put losses at 256000 dollars, later rising to about 900000, with nearly 1,000,000 bushels of wheat and loads of lard destroyed.

The Kintuck finished loading wheat at Tacoma and moved to Electric bunkers to coal, then sails for Bragilian porte next week. Ching Wo, now Nippon Yusen Kaisaa liner, at Tacoma loading wheat and flour for the Orient and will sail from Seattle about July 20.
