A wreck of the Federal Express eastbound on the New Haven line near Bridgeport early today left 12 dead and 45 injured. The train toppled from a 30 foot viaduct into Fairfield Avenue as passengers and baseball players from the St. Louis Cardinals aided in rescue efforts. The dead include Louis Rising and Mrs. J. W. Rasmus, with twenty more believed to die from injuries.

The wreck occurred when a sun kink in Oregon Trunk tracks caused the engine to leave the rails and plunge down a 40 foot embankment. a day coach collapsed on the engine.
