William E. Cotts, 52, of 2705 Third Ave, jailed Saturday on a charge of slashing Gus Ex, 35, of 2117 Seventh Ave. Ex was treated at City Hospital. Cotts says Ex grabbed him by the throat and shoved him into a light pole, prompting the pocket knife attack in self defense. The incident occurred at Third Ave and Bell St.
