The White House issue dated June 2 1907 records President Theodore Roosevelt thanking Mr Shaw for the Christian Endeavor letter and urging the group to emphasize first rank good citizenship. He offers honorary membership in the Christian Endeavor Patriots League with caution about aligning to all views.
The accommodation committee announced ample lodgings for visiting delegates. Messengers will escort delegates to state headquarters and assign rooms by district. An information bureau in the Chamber of Commerce will operate around the clock, and about 100 delegates were housed last night.
The assessor Parrish plans to license signboards previously valued at $1,000 last year. This year the signs of Foster and Kielser will be taxed at $25,000 under new licensing rules.

Seattle hosts the 12 000 delegates of the 1907 International Christian Endeavor convention with arrival of the California group at 9 10 a m and ongoing reception at King Street station. Delegates from New York Ohio Indiana Illinois Wisconsin District of Columbia Massachusetts Vermont New Hampshire Minnesota Kansas and Maine arrive aboard trains as crowds welcome them at Great Northern and King Street. The Junior Endeavorers will perform Building the Christian Endeavor Bridge in Tent Williston Lincoln Park with children marching in procession to symbolize progress and faith through a sequence of songs recitations and pledges.
Rev. M. A. Matthews of the First Presbyterian Church is virtually assured a seat on the United Society of Christian Endeavor board of trustees as the annual election proceeds in an executive section. Seattle is favored with two seats, with Muigad as chairman and a Seattle resident’s growing influence noted. An offer to elect a young Presbyterian as assistant to Mr. Shaw hints at a future succession to general secretary.

District court action filed under the Sherman act seeks to dissolve the American Tobacco company trust and appoint a receiver. The bill warns the trust could monopolize the world’s tobacco market, listing assets over 275 million dollars and naming 59 corporations and 29 individuals, including Thomas F. Ryan the Dukes Lorillard and P A Widener.
The Star Special Service reports Tacoma hosts the fourth annual convention of the state grand lodge of Masons African branch. Eight lodges attend about 200 delegates. After routine work the session adjourned at 5:30 for a banquet. Officer election and installation are set for Thursday.
A federal fraud grand jury indicted the Santa Fe railroad on 65 counts for granting 35000 dollars in rebates to the States Sugar Land company. The action was announced today in Chicago.

General C. E. committee expects to have about $17 000 in cash for convention needs based on pre collection totals and recent church offerings.
