Congressional committee guests tour Puget Sound docks

A delegation from the House Committee on Rivers and Harbors arrived in Seattle for a inspection tour of Puget Sound public works. They toured Bremerton navy yard and the naval station, with Seattle officials and local notables greeting them warmly. Pingree Funeral in Detroit Draws City Wide Grief

Mid July 6 reports note the ex Governor Pingree moved from city hall to his residence at midnight. Early trains carried visitors to the city as funeral services were held, the casket on a gun carriage draped with stars and stripes, and a line of black-draped portraits. A prosecutor in Judge George's court says witnesses will argue the late Chief Meredith did not fire the first shot in the Guy's Drugstore tragedy. They accuse a third man of starting the gunfight and claim a shot was fired outside before Meredith shot. detectives have gathered material evidence and plan to show Meredith was attacked while walking toward the drugstore.

Fire tears through Davenport basement store in Wilbur area

A late night blaze swept a general merchandise store in Davenport's basement near Wilbur Washington 20 miles west. Fire department reports indicate a boiler is out and telephone lines burned. several injuries occur though no lives are known lost. The cause was an explosion in the store basement and losses remain undetermined at this time.

Local fire damages hay and general store structure

Fire at Wilber in a town of about four residents on the Great Northern road west of Spokane damaged a hay barn and a general store belonging to Robert with losses totaling around 100000. The blacksmith son and the carpenter ran the saloon and hotel business, and most losses are covered by insurance. The blaze affected several structures including a hotel and a saloon.

Young Healy Dies in Rainier Hotel Tragedy

Circus Worker Dies After Wagon Tragedy at Athletic Park

Tom Perkina an 18 year old employee of Campbell Bros circus was crushed by a show wagon at the circus grounds at 7 pm this morning while sleeping on the ground. Coroner Hoye notified, body taken to Butterworths morgue. His mother and sister in Edgar Nebraska have been informed.

Mefford Trial Set For Monday In Seattle
