A shootout unfolds at a cabin on Squak Slough as Tracy fights off Everett posse members Ray mond Nelson and Bower. Deputies Williams Serrit and Anderson are wounded. Nelson and Bow er likely killed or mortally wounded. Authorities rush forces to the scene as the fugitive remains at large.
The police board ruled after hearings that the proposed match between Dave Sullivan and Young Corbett could not be pulled off. Louie-Ville steps in to challenge the mill, and a separate group recounts a dramatic sea voyage involving Tracy and three companions with talked of robberies and escape plans along the Seattle Ballard area.
Sheriff led posse of five, including deputies Jack Williams and L W Nelson, plus two newspaper men, hunts Tracy from Ravenna Park toward Seattle. Reports say Tracy passed through Bal Fremont Latona, headed toward Canadian boundary by rail, with Seattle detectives and nearby sheriffs coordinating pursuit. Notes describe a gasoline launch sighting near Meadow Point and a bluffing fishing camp encounter at South Point Olympia with a 30 30 rifle. Authorities guard roads to Lake Washington and coordinate with Snohomish and Cudihee jurisdictions.
Deputy sheriffs tracked a man fitting Tracy's description from Ravenna toward Kirkland after a 6 30 a m alarm. Two deputies followed the railroad from Ravenna while another traveler reported a man at a cabin at 7 20 a m demanding food before fleeing on foot. The fugitive is believed to be hidden between Ravenna and Pontiac.
A Pittsburg and Weet railway collision this morning left over sixty injured as a rear end crash between the 43 train and Butler accommodation caused a rear coach to telescope. A telegraph operator and a train dispute are cited as factors. An emergency referee was sent to the scene and all injured were treated locally.
Ballard residents request tighter patrols at City Park after reports of underage girls roaming at night and soldiers seen at late gatherings. Marshall orders officers to enforce curfew while Fort Lawton incidents stir public protest. News plant sale to Kuffner Brothers noted.
Roosevelt issues a proclamation ending hostilities in the Philippines with only Moro-held territory remaining. Military rule ends as the military governor's office is abolished and General Chaffee becomes department commander of the U.S. Army, under the same call of the president.
