A heavily intoxicated man dragged beneath a moving box car near the Pacific yards at early hours. William Peterson, a forester, was identified by a pocket card. investigation by Deputy Coroner Wiltele found the body moved to Bonney and Stewart's morgue.
Langdon, a Wilkes Barre hotel proprietor, faced arraignment for breaking down a door during a dispute with a female servant on a cold morning. The case centered on a claim the servant was frightened and hurt, with testimony about difficulties in waking staff. Langdon was fined 47 cents and ordered to arrange compensation for the incident.
The DAR association mourns Hon John Allen with resolutions of sympathy. A memorial service in King County Superior Court hall featured eulogies by prominent lawyers including Judge Parke and General B. Carr. Nordhoff of the Bon Marche confirms the retirement of Cooper and Levy from their long established Beattion store. The Bon Marche will open a Carr department at the corner of Recond Avenue and Pike Street, moving the entire Cooper and Levy stock to form the nucleus of the new grocery department. The vast East ordered inventory will supplement the Levy stock as the new department grows. Both retiring partners will stay in Beattion and may pursue manufacturing ventures.
At the inspection hearing the Philadelphia Reading Company presented massive wage ledgers covering years of business. Four foot high piles were shown to officials as pay figures were read from the receipts and compared with book entries. The inquiry focused on wage amounts for various employees, with Paymaster Jones citing payments from $200 for 122 to $60 for two days. The proceedings included a rebuke to an unnamed superintendent and calls for restitution and justice.
The Beattie Mill Company rents an old Beattie sawmill site in Victoria and will install new machinery to operate the plant on an extensive scale, signaling a major expansion for the Seattle based firm.

The Alaska Commercial company steamer Portland under Captain Lindquist arrived at this port today after a rough voyage from San Francisco to Valdez via Beattie. One passenger from California was carried onboard.

Two miners Berry and another man from here vanished while crossing ice near the south arm of Chol Mondeley Sound and are now presumed drowned. Mail carrier Jran Aoach found a boat capsized near the mouth of the south arm, suggesting an attempt to break through ice. A search party was dispatched to follow traces of the missing men. H. H. McDonald has bought the river steamer Kiwood and will operate it on the Skagit river run from Beattle.
Sheriff Cudihbee mourns the loss of his bloodhound Empire who died in the early hours. The dog, a courthouse favorite, stood near the jail office and seldom wandered far. Funeral arrangements are not yet confirmed.
