Joe Brady, 32, known as The Shadow, is jailed in Portland as authorities pursue extradition. He’s accused of blackmailing five wealthy residents for 120000 and committing six burglaries, denying he is the famed robber while police prepare to link him to the crimes.

In Oelsnitz Germany January 25 a wall collapse at the Hedwig shaft in the Deutsch land goal mine killed forty-one miners and left twenty-eight injured.
The state rested Monday evening and the defense planned to rest Tuesday morning in the first degree murder case of Peter Colagino. Defense attorney John F. Dore argued Colagino killed Alex McGibbon in self defense after a quarrel over McGibbon’s children and Colagino’s chickens.
Henry C. Meacham filed a superior court suit for divorce alleging wife Annie M. Meacham aged 80 refuses to settle down. He says she deserted him on May 4, 1920 after their marriage on November 30, 1919.
Olympia Jan 25 The Hart sponsored civil administrative code faces fierce opposition from educators who say it would allow Gov. Hart’s board to dictate University of Washington policies and remove faculty. McCardie and Gleason testified as senators probed deficiencies and executive powers. Education groups plan amendments to keep system control with the board of regents and veterans commissions seek to preserve their welfare body.

Two college professors T. G. Thompson of chemistry and Dr. V. J. Farrar of history were stopped and searched by a policeman in the dead of night for stolen goods. No items were found.
Police report 19 year old Jack Goon of 707 King Street was treated for a .22 pistol wound to the chest. Officers Sergt P F Looker and Patrolman EB Oakes say the gun fired after he pondered his father’s death and unemployment. they believe accidental discharge. He was in Dawson when admitted.
Thousands gathered as the funeral cortege for Seattle police officers W T Angle N N McMillan and Detective Jim O'Brien moved through the city. The mile-long procession included pallbearers, veterans, and officials, with mourners watching from windows and curbs in somber silence.
