Body Found Frozen in Pond Near Black River Junction

The body of 59 year old Anna Monster was found Friday morning by a boy skater in a pond at Monster field behind her home near Black River Junction. Deputies believe death by suicide due to lack of injury and an unknown motive, with investigation ongoing. The victim, sister in law of Herman Nelson, had been living with her brother Charles Monster and had been missing since Monday. The body was moved to the Seattle morgue.

Fire in Laundry Threatens 75 Minor Hospital Patients

At 1420 Spring Street a hospital laundry room fire imperiled 75 patients. Nurses used wheeled cots to evacuate. Three patients in a room above the blaze were carried out while others remained under careful watch as firefighters responded. The blaze sparked about 15 minutes after the first alarm.
