Isaac Pincus and Sona report Washington produced 25 000 bales of hops in 1900 averaging 290 pounds per bale. Yakima led with 16 000 bales, followed by Pierce 6 000, King 5 000, Lewis 5 900, Skagit 2 000 and Cowlitz 1 009. Hops averaged 1490 pounds per acre on 5900 acres in Washington. Oregon had 16 500 and California 7 000. Prices rose from 9 to 10 cents in 1899 to 10 to 10 1/2 cents in 1900 due to England short crop.

The House Committee on Naval Affairs reports favorably a $271,000 appropriation for Bremerton Naval Station. Funds cover construction needed to prepare the station for extensive repair work on the battleship Oregon when it arrives.

John H. Randolph, colored, sues Jno W Orth and Peter Zohnen for alleged racial discrimination at a James street saloon. He says he paid $5 for two drinks but received only $4 change after being told negroes are charged, plans to take the case to the supreme court seeking $5,000.
A Manefield woman sent Gov Nash a letter claiming it is a state custom to donate to every twin birth. She announced she had twins and would welcome such a premium. Nash replied that paying a premium for each pair would consume his entire salary and more than the state house could cover.
