City Urged to Accelerate Relief Drive for Europe
L. H. Burnett, estate chairman of the European relief council, appeals Seattle to speed up the drive toward a 250000 fundraising goal for starving European children. With six counties over- subcribed, King county and Seattle lag at about 36 percent of their 150000 share. Burnett says raising about 90000 more in Seattle would secure the campaign, as the rest of the state is expected to cover the remaining 200000. Each ten dollar donation saves a life, funding essentials, while incidental costs are privately covered. Contributions are received by M. F. Backus, county treasurer of the relief council and president of the National Bank of Commerce.
