Seattle Port Leases Docks To American Hawaiian Steamship Co

Seattle port commissioners sign a contract with American Hawaiian Steamship Co to lease docks 1 and 2 on the south pier for 800 by 216 feet. The lease lifts annual rent from 15000 to 40000 dollars as freight charges average 20 percent per ton. Company projects handling 75000 to 150000 tons yearly now, doubling with Panama Canal growth. port investing 450000 for dock site and 100000 for construction, yielding about 6 percent return.

Peace loving Yamamoto shot at in New York street incident

At midnight T Yamamoto 522 percent Malinat was said to prefer peace. He heard a shot from a window as he reached 416 Eighth Ave shot in the leg. Police report no suspect. The Parent Teachers association Stevens school will meet monthly at the clubhouse.

Twenty five New Year revelers in an exclusive Broadway restaurant started a blaze at noon today. Police and firemen responded swiftly saving the party. Two society women were nearly suffocated in the incident.

On New Year’s Day a fierce battle raged in Ojinaga with artillery bombardment and fires. Wounded soldiers report about 600 dead in the besieged town and up to 1,000 wounded. U.S. troops under Col. McNamee warned the rebel commander to halt shelling on American soil. Deserters fled toward the river as rebels surrounded the town and feared butcheries.
