In Maute Indiana a mob of about 300 gathered at the jail after George Wart, a 35 year old accused murderer, was seized. They battered the lockup door, dragged him out, and hanged him then burned the body at a riverfront pyre amid cheers.
Mrs Car ol Kansas writes as editor attacking leaders and proposing amendments to prohibition. She claims the nation seeks strong measures and warns against demonstrations while urging action and editorial force.
The Men's Friends Society petitions the city for a site to erect a three story frame building costing 3000 dollars. They seek a 40 by feet lot on a street front to provide wholesome recreation and moral support for seafarers at modest cost. The non sectarian institution aims to demystify vices and aid mariners, recalling a prior building burned near Commercial Street.

Co. by Adrian Crouse, guardian of heirs of Henry C. killed during sailing vessel Minnie KE Caine’s construction, is set for jury trial in Judge Hell’s department.
A Wabash passenger train from Detroit to Chicago derailed near Brenton after a broken rail. Thirty five passengers injured eight seriously. one woman fatally. Five cars including three Pullmans left the track at about 25 mph. Surgeons rushed from Goshen Millersburg and Elkhert to aid the wounded.
Fan ny Stewart a Tenderloin resident jumped from the Florence house third story window in early morning, instantly killing herself. She came from Walla Walla Washington and had a history of hardship described as life of woe.
