Train Bandits Terrorize Western Washington in Interurban Robberies

Authorities hunt three masked robbers who held up a Tacoma Seattle interurban, killing three on the first Great Northern train near Bellingham and stealing about $500 on the second. A large reward remains unclaimed as deputies close in on suspects believed sheltered around Seattle.

Posse Finds No Trace of Gang at Bellingham

In Bellingham on February 23, a large force of armed men combs the woods for two bandits who held up a Great Northern train at Samish Friday night and killed three passengers. Water patrols from Whatcom and Skagit counties search for the fugitives by boat. George Joyce, jailed on return to the city, is not yet identified as one of the Joyce brothers. Conductor Waldron arrived but could not confirm Joyce’s involvement or explain his absence since Thursday.

American Held in Mexico as Spy
