The JHE cruiser to be launched bears the Evergreen State name and, with 18 months to go, receives no gift from the state. The Star urges Governor Mead to acknowledge the honor with an official presentation or gesture.
Washington Feb 18. E A Drake testified that all canal commissioners except Davis took meeting fees from the Panama Railroad and Steamship Co. Admiral Walker said Roosevelt authorized directors to accept fees and bought stock with government funds, with dividends turned to the government. Cromwell called the railroad's constitutional.

Doctor Carrie Jones was convicted of prostitution in a case handled by Police Judge Gordon yesterday afternoon. She received a $25 fine and a suspended 30 day sentence after arrest at the Richelieu rooming house on upper First avenue by Patrolmen Hibner and Brown. She claimed the room was used for massage sponge bath and alcohol rubs and was warned to stay out of the district.
The Moscow revolutionists issued a death sentence for Grand Duke Sergius after the December 11 1904 St. Petersburg demonstration. They vowed to target Sergius and General Trepoff if Moscow events were crushed. The group claimed aims of peaceful propaganda but pledged violence if rights were denied. Memorial services were held for Sergius in St Petersburg and Moscow with the funeral planned at the Kremlin. Troops patrolled the Kremlin and mourning orders affected shops and newspapers.
