First Local High School Cross Country Run Held

About twenty runners took part in the first cross country event at the local high school yesterday afternoon. The course ran from the high school up Pine Street to 16th Avenue, through City Park, along the park’s south side to Broadway, then back to the school, totaling a bit over two miles. Gish and Livingstone, veteran trackmen, led the field with the best times, while newer runners pressed hard. Coach Frost said the event was not a race but the leaders’ effort suggested competition. The next run is planned for Monday afternoon, weather permitting, to follow up the inaugural event.
