Escape of Desperate Prisoner Shocks County Jailer

Misplaced confidence by Sheriff Williams led to the escape of Preyd Loomis from the county jail as he crawled from a rear window at two o clock last evening. Loomis, sentenced to MM years in the state penitentiary, was awaiting appeal when the escape occurred with the sheriff and his wife nearby in the building. Property owners on KB Union Street oppose a regrade between 9th and 36th Avenues, saying they are assessed but do not benefit.

Mother frees 17 year old with peace bond

Victor Coleman aged 17 was released by Judge Prater with a $200 bond to keep the peace after a sentence of two years in the penitentiary. His mother furnished the bond and secured his temporary release.

A home for Japanese women has been established in Seattle by an association organized for that purpose. Miss Nellie E. Fife, who has done missionary work in Japan, is in charge. The object is to care for helpless Oriental women and to aid strangers and newcomers of that race.
