A Nebraska bill proposed to present a silver service to the battleship Nebraska faced opposition over cost. Supporters cited taxpayer relief and tribute, while opponents called the plan extravagant and suggested funds would better pay the state debt. the measure was postponed 45 to 34.
In San Francisco on February 13 Fay Buche, convicted of grand larceny, had her sentence suspended after a pitiable appeal from her ill husband in hospital at Butte. He claimed destitution due to his illness and asked mercy, with supporting letters from W. P. Thompson of the Canadian Pacific and Soo Line in Seattle, asserting Buche's prior good character.
Counterfeiters imitate Dr King s New Discovery for Consumption and other medicines to defraud the public. The notice warns buyers to seek the genuine label with the Bucklen or Dr King s name on the wrapper, from H F Co Chicago and Canada, sold by G O Gay druggist.
