Sheriff Presses for Faster Sunset Telephone Service
Sheriff Robert T. Hodge urged county commissioners to compel Sunset Telephone to upgrade lines in the sheriff's office. He cited two hour waits to reach Portland and one and a half hours to contact Justice Gordon's court, warning delays threaten justice and public safety. He contrasted with Independent Telephone which installed a needed main line within 24 hours after notification.
