The Star recalls a week of Bolshevik threats and insists on a square deal. It calls for prosecution of Bolshevik leaders in federal court and a square arrangement for victims and perpetrators alike in an Americanist test.
The five day general strike ends as street cars resume, shops reopen, and restaurants restart operations. City foresees $100000 in emergency costs. over 8500 police kept order with mayoral and council approvals. Bolshevik leaflet arrests noted. streetcar crews and barbers return after union decisions.
OLE HANSON mayor of Seattle thanks The Seattle Star for editorials that opposed Bolshevik influence. He credits the paper with mobilizing citizens, supporting Americanism, and distributing one hundred thousand free papers to the city government to combat revolutionary threats.
King George spoke from the throne in London as Parliament opened, expressing hope that Britain and the United States will act together in the future and welcoming President Wilson. Mrs A W Tillman of the Rainier Grand hotel says Peggy Prett conned her after posing as a nurse. Tillman sheltered Peggy, then Peggy took 322 dollars worth of clothes and a fur neck piece. Tillman reports Peggy fled with the items and wants her jailed.
Dr. L. C. Marshall of the federal shipbuilding labor adjustment board will go to Seattle later this week to survey the ongoing shipbuilding strike, an announcement stated.
Spokane observer Dr. John Bl. Anderson, health officer since 1911, has been elected state health commissioner to succeed Dr. Tv. D. Tuttle of Seattle. Tuttle reportedly will join the United States public health service.
Washington police announced that Zang Sun Wan, charged with murdering three Chinese members of the Chinese educational mission, confessed to killing Ben Sen Wu after Wu killed Dr Wong and I Tisie. The case centers on a deadly trio of节 events linked to the mission.
Reports say eight distress calls were sent by the S S Kwarra of the Elder Dempster line 400 miles southwest of the Seilly Islands. The vessel was reported disabled and shipping authorities were alerted.
Waterfront work began in Seattle on Monday with the Alameda unloading hundreds of boxes of fresh fish with onion. The Multnomah started unloading with both union and non union crews while Union Pacific pier officials planned independent work.
J Von Carnop, a shipyard strike leader and Metal Trades conference member, announced at noon that the shipyard workers’ walkout remains unchanged by the general strike settlement. He said the conference committee is in session all day and the shipyards stay on strike.
