Henderson rejects Witt plan for Seattle railway savings
D W Henderson, Seattle transportation chief, told the council that saving $1,700,600 annually per Peter Witt’s advice is not feasible. Witt cited $800,000 saved by skipping business district routes, $800,000 from one man cars, and $100,000 from lower current. Henderson backs one point only, purchasing at least 200 fast light cars, and proposes route changes, track rebuilds, and service adjustments to improve downtown access.
