Northwest aims at equal railroad tourist rates

A three member committee led by T Rockwell was chosen to push an interstate campaign to equalize railroad tourist rates between Seattle and California. Joshua Green Perry Polson and Ja C Mitchell will rally Northwest hotels and commercial bodies to counter the 17 50 Chicago to San Francisco differential. The effort seeks support from Oregon Washington and Montana to win an Interstate Commerce Commission ruling before next summer’s tourist season.

Wilson Warns of War Danger in Topeka Rally

President Wilson spoke to about five thousand in Topeka promising to clarify judgment on preparedness. Flood Devastation Across Arkansas and Louisiana

President Wilson Car Reverses into Crowd at Grinnell

President Wilson’s car backed into a crowd of about 30 000 people in Grinnell Iowa as he spoke from the rear platform on Tuesday afternoon. Six children were dragged from beneath the wheels with no warning given.

Woman Juror Walks Eight Miles in Snow to Court

Mrs. George A. Radford of 6841 19th Ave N E walked eight miles through the snow to serve on a jury, only to find two closer jurors absent. Judge Mackintosh postponed the Radford case and she was later drawn for another trial in Judge Tallman’s court. Several other jurors also walked long distances.

Fire hydrants left buried under snow prompt police warnings

Hundreds of fire hydrants were found covered by snow as residents cleared sidewalks. Police officers were ordered Wednesday to warn property owners and occupants to uncover hydrants to ensure access for emergencies.
