In a Tacoma area shanty near Puyallup a Native man Smokalem killed his wife Annie Smokalem with a blunt stick and an axe after a drunken argument. The 12 year old daughter witnessed parts of the attack and the man confessed after arrest at the county jail. The crime occurred Saturday noon about three miles northwest of Puyallup.
