Reports from the Seattle area describe a fatal interurban rail crash near Milton east of Pare and seven miles from Tacoma. The work train failed to flag the passenger car. the passenger crashed into the work train at high speed, killing two and injuring ten including several with serious or fatal injuries.
A freight car derailed and crashed through the left side of a passenger car, injuring several aboard. Dole Tame of Seattle and other travelers describe the impact while John Janning and Harry Chesbro report seat positions and injuries as the Minnesota and Alaska clubs plan a meet with George A Brackett addressing the gathering.
In Owensboro Kentucky on Christmas Day three men were killed and four fatally wounded in a clash between striking miners and guards at the West Kentucky Coal Company mine in Sturgia. The dead are C J Douermerty and Billy Mallery both miners and Will Gray, another miner. wounded are L L Moore four wounds dying, Sam Barneby William Goch and Henry Delaney. The fight occurred in a downtown saloon a mile from the mine with twenty five shots exchanged. The cause remains unknown.
In New Orleans six Italians were found murdered at a Damainest house after a dawn blaze. Panic seized the Italian quarters as police and fire crews struggled to control the scene. Victims were hacked to death and some burned postmortem to obscure the crime, with investigators unsure when the killings occurred.
Advices from Boston state that the schooner William Nottingham of Seattle arrived safely after a 175 day voyage from Port Townsend. Mate J H Smith recalls a hazardous three day battle with an iceberg off Cape Horn, saved only by Captain Alfred Keegan of Beattie. The 1012 ton four master carried a large deckload and eleven crew members.

A violent drunken fight on December 26 in Kangar City saw about 60 black combatants clash with police. Patrolman A. B. Lara Wee was knocked senseless, a bartender struck a man, and rioters used clubs stones knives and rages, with many injured and tables at the American Express damaged. Several suspects were arrested while others escaped.

At 2 44 am Tuesday a fire in a vacant house at 213 Patrview 1 caused $560 damage, the two story frame home gutted before firefighters arrived.
F Rudolph, a civil engineer, was arrested Monday by Officer Humphreys for disorderly conduct after a noodle shop dispute. Tuesday morning hints suggest he may be a forger, with Portland police reporting a description matching C F Rudolph. Authorities await Portland officer arrival for identification.
Mrs Maria Duerr wife of William Duerr died at the family home 70 Broadet after general debility. She was 69 and had lived in Seattle 26 years.
