Officer Shot by Citizen in West 63rd Street Incident

Patrolman A. R. Ruckart of Ballard station lies in serious condition at Providence hospital with a side wound after a clash with Wilfred Bagley, 38, a Seattle Cedar Stegith manager. Bagley fired twice near 2038 West 63rd Street, mistaking the officer for a prowler. Ruckart returned fire and was helped by Patrolman R. J. Persho who disarmed Bagley. Ruckart’s condition is not life threatening but the wound is very painful.
