Fire devastates Montana stables and lodging houses

A major blaze in the J. J. Buntley block at Fourth and Washington gutted lodging houses and the Montana stable. A Japanese laborer died, two men were injured, and 31 horses and 4 cows died as the fire, likely started by a discarded cigar, raged through hay and wood structures. Estimated damage reached $26,000 as rescue efforts failed to save many animals.

Wreck injures scores on Rio Grande express in Colorado

A Rio Grande express derailed near Durango as it left a bridge, killing three and injuring about twenty. Fifty passengers were trapped in overturned coaches. Fire Rips Van Nuys Hotel In Los Angeles Causing Heavy Loss

A major blaze at the Van Nuys Broadway hotel in downtown Los Angeles injured six firemen and forced 1106 guests to flee. The building burned from 8 o clock last night, collapsing floors and destroying the structure with an estimated loss of 200000 dollars. Several women fainted and were carried out as flames spread, menacing the nearby Angelus hotel and threatening to trap occupants inside.

Multicar Los Angeles Streetcar Collision Injures Forty

A three streetcar wreck in downtown Los Angeles at Second Avenue and Spring Street injures forty people and shocks many more. Runaway streetcar struck another car and sent it into a Hollywood car. Almost every passenger was hurt and many taken to hospitals. Crews remained at the scene as residents of the city and suburbs were involved.
