In Newburgh New York on December 17 Mrs Bernice Heinze the divorced wife of copper magnate Fritz Augustus Heinze received one thousand dollars monthly along with two hundred thirty three dollars for apartment rent and funds for her son's education after age five.
Albert Halk, convicted last week of killing Thomas Slonski, was sentenced today by Judge Donlan to 100 years in the penitentiary. The slaying on August 9 arose from a quarrel between the two men’s wives, leaving both families bereft.
The Star invites youths under 16 to submit essays on happiness for a chance to win theatre seats. Best essay wins a four seat box at The Moore Theatre for a Monday night performance of The Blue Bird by Maurice Maeterlinck. Ten runners up receive two seats each. Hearst testified before a Senate committee on campaign contributions about obtaining alleged Archbold letters from John Eddy in 1908. He showed photographic copies of some letters to Senator Clapp and described loans of 50000 dollars and a clause to strike from house bill 500. He denied paying for the photos.
