Seattle hillside collapse saves family as masked physician rescues
A hill above 339 Lakeside Ave. in Seattle slid, burying the house after a tree toppled. A passing physician pulled three family members from danger and refused to reveal his name, leaving the rescue without fanfare. The family, Mr and Mrs Thomas O Hail a and their baby, received temporary shelter from neighbors.

Sluicing for Bodies of 3 Dies in West Seattle Landslide
Mrs Susan Andrews and her sons Jack age 3 and Tommy age 7 were buried when a landslide crushed their home at 1910 Fairmount Ave West Seattle. A second slide buried rescuers including two civilians watching sluicing operations. Firemen and city workers saved all but two. The husband, a Northern Pacific brakeman, arrived shortly before the disaster and could not reach his family in time.
