Washington announces sporadic influenza outbreaks may occur but the nation should not fear a return of a large epidemic. Dr Rupert Blue says the country has passed the major toll and that only pockets with limited spread remain possible. He notes Alaska and Porto Rico still report cases while stressing influenza is ever present.
Former policeman K. J. Margett was found with facial wounds after an attack near Breakers cafe in Frisco. He claimed a knife-wielding unknown assailant stabbed him. district attorney accompanied him for a statement but no identification was made.
San Francisco report identifies the deceased as Miss Ann Sutherland of Iowa after a fatal car crash last night. Authorities release name as investigation continues.
Spokane reports draft board No. 2 image shows J. C. Argall charging Lone Star Dietz with being a slacker. Dietz, Mare Island marine football coach and former Carlisle star, born in Spokane, says he claimed exemption as an Indian. Argall notes Dietz educated at Carlisle and asserts he is a “man without a country.”
Berlin reports that Chancellor Ebert will form a socialist army to counter Spartacist forces. Amsterdam dispatches say the workmen and soldiers executive committee ceded supreme authority in Germany to Ebert’s government, received today.
Berliners mobilize for confrontation as workers collect machine guns and munitions in the suburbs. The military command concentrates troops but bars them from streets to avoid street clashes. Workers and soldiers committees demand the arrest of Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg.
