In Tarnopol Polish residents transformed a German World War I monument into an allied memorial by adding a new inscription. The statue originally celebrated William II’s 1917 visit. after Polish and French troops, including a Sixth Division of African Chasseurs, captured Tarnopol on July 4, 1919, the monument now honors the allied forces.
In Grand Rapids Michigan United States Senator Truman H M Newberry and thirteen associates charged with election fraud were arraigned in federal court. Newberry entered a not guilty plea while others declined to enter pleas. Bail was set at 10000 dollars for each case.

Mrs. Peart Brewster sues Seattle cigar merchant and former baseball club president for divorce in superior court. She seeks half of about 150 900 in property plus 300 shares in twelve tobacco stores, real estate in Everett and Seattle, a Oregon farm, two cars, a restaurant, 155 Morgan Cigar Co. shares, and Texas oil holdings. The couple married December 24 1898 in Tacoma and have lived at 2731 Boylston Ave N. The complaint cites two years of neglect and two separations. Brewster plans to contest.
Detroit automobile plants were shut or heavily curtailed as the coal strike idle 60,000 workers with at least 200,000 more at risk pending early settlement, the Manufacturers' Association reported.

A letter from The Star requests Seattle actors to donate performances for Fir lands tuberculosis patients during Christmas. The Merry Christmas Co. asks supporters to send a dollar or notes to arrange about auto transport and a $100 Christmas dinner fund for Firlands patients and families.
After a heated debate at Lincoln High School the girls voted 665 to 80 to ban high heels georgette crepe waists thin camisoles silk hose low necked blouses and short skirts beginning January 1. They rejected a uniform dress by five to one though many already wear middy blouses or the Peter Thompson style. A few seniors oppose the plan saying they will graduate before January 1. Detraciam will be the punishment for those who defy the majority.
A landing float carrying about 60 passengers collapsed at Manette near Bremerton killing Mrs. Margaret Armstrong and injuring others. Rescue workers pulled several from icy waters led by volunteers and a navy yard mechanic, while coroner searches for additional victims continued through the night.
