During a royal hunting excursion in Madrid King Alfonso and Premier Maura returned to the city. A shepherd in the party attempted to assassinate the king. a gamekeeper shot him, and the shepherd died instantly. Maura refused to discuss the incident.
The case of Champoux, a French immigrant who killed Lottie Brace at the Arcade theater, ends with a Supreme Court ruling upholding a death sentence.
