Mrs Etta Patton manager of the Washington Undertaking Company buried five year old Alphonse Schuster at Fairmount cemetery. The child died of diphtheria and by law only the undertaker could handle interment but the brave undertaker carried out the burial unaided despite bleak weather.
A boy named Walton died after a sparring session in Union Park where a Fitzsimmons inspired blow was delivered. Mitchell, who demonstrated the punch, has not been found. The physician cites the blow as the cause of death and the neighborhood remains shocked and grieving.
