Russians poised to attack Berlin as millions mobilize

Businessmen jailed and fined for speeding and reckless driving

Acting Police Judge Thomas B. MacMahon sentenced W. C. Phillips to the police court limit of $100 fine and 20 days in jail for an accident injuring two boys, one seriously. Oliver D. Colvin received $60 fine and one day in jail plus $50 for speeding. both appealed to avoid immediate incarceration. Phillips’ car struck 12 year old Dean Bates and 12 year old Eugene Speck. Estes remains unable to walk.

Butte Miners Seize Federation Members At Anaconda Mine

On August 27 in Butte insurgent miners seized 30 to 40 Western Federation of Miners members at the Anaconda Copper Co. mine who refused to join the Butte Mine Workers union. Those abducted were forced to join while seven remained obdurate and were tied with ropes. The mine was shut and plans to march on other mines were announced for tomorrow.
