City Battles Brush Fires Across King County
Monday morning Beattie faced a smoke covered scene as brush and forest fires swept King County. A brush blaze near Firlands sanitarium drew Fire Chief Frank L. Stetson and a chemical engine to the scene while nearby Priest station firemen fought the flames. Port Warden Alexis Paysee sent a patrol boat with 500 feet of hose to Vashon island where three firemen assisted. Citizens near the Delworth dock appealed for help to prevent the dock from being destroyed. Snoqualmie Pass motorists reported forest fires over Sunday as well.
