Mayor Ole Hansen and council members met with Seattle street railway heads to discuss financing for rising operating costs. Proposals include power and light interconnection, shared tracks, and universal transfers. A possible 6 cent fare was noted but not expected unless alternatives fail.
Federal employment offices enrolled 788 men Monday for shipyards and allied war industries as part of a city wide recruitment drive. Sheriff John Stringer and three local clergymen were among the first to enroll, joining a roster that includes prominent attorneys and a listed capitalist. Officials say 1500 more workers are needed to keep all shipyards operating under the current program.

Dr Kadwin J Brown filed a communication with Beattie city council demanding a civil ordinance to protect citizens rights and alleging police misconduct during a quarantine campaign against social disease He cites a drunken plainclothes officer and a drunken stool pigeon entering a home and arresting occupants The matter was sent to the public safety committee and the mayor defended the quarantine noting appeals go to the state board of health and praising progress in cleaning the city
