J Hornstrom and Angus J Anes buried by a cave in while digging a foundation at Eighth Ave and Cherry, 10 feet of earth covering them. Others escaped as police and volunteers dug for hours to recover the bodies. Anes, single, lived with his brother’s family at 217 Dexteray. Hornstrom, a widower, left two children in Portland.
