Lovers Identified in Wheeling Murder Case

In Wheeling West Virginia August two men John Clime and Clayton Rodgers are jailed on charges of assault and murder of May Yost after she was seized from her sweetheart Walter Hammond at pistol point and killed. The body was recovered from the Ohio River. Hammond identified the two suspects as the killers. A separate court action awarded Frederick Nelson a money judgment of 292.71 against Charles H Phillips for goods delivered.

His Doom The Stake Fire At Enterprise

A mob in Coffee county Alabama burned at the stake a Black man named Johan W Pennington after he assaulted Mrs J C Davis near Enterprise. Pennington had been run down by a posse with bloodhounds and confessed before execution. The mob dispersed quietly. Judge Emory committed Henry Davis to Reform School for a knife assault on his brother.

City Schools Face Major Improvements and Bond Proposal

A lengthy school board meeting discussed urgent needs for Beattie district and a proposed $250000 bond to fund new rooms and facilities. Plans include nine new or expanded buildings, classroom additions, and purchases of textbooks and staff appointments for the coming school year.

Mid air in Paris an airship of inventor Santos Dumont exploded during a bid for a 100000 franc prize. He dangled from the basket for ten minutes before rescue. Earlier he had completed a flight encircling the Eiffel Tower at about 20 miles per hour.

In Louisville Clement Buchter killed his 10 year old daughter after she refused to submit. His wife was wounded but not seriously. Buchter was arrested this morning.

Oceanic Collides in Fog Sinking Kincara. Crew Missing

The White Star liner Oceanic, sailing from Liverpool, collided with the steamer Kincara in dense fog near Waterford. The Kincara sank with seven of her crew drowned and eight crew members missing. The Oceanic faced a panic in the immediate aftermath as rescue efforts began.

Mrs Annie Louise Bache wife of Judge Morris B Sache of this city died at the family residence 1708 Twelfth avenue south at 1 o clock this morning. She was sister of Mrs Henry Landes wife of Col Landee president of the First National Bank of Port T and daughter of Tory undertaker of Victoria BC. The body will be shipped to Victoria by Bonney Stewart tonight for interment tomorrow morning.

The French squadron at Villefranche France has orders to prepare to sail on short notice. The destination is not confirmed but Constantinople is suspected due to a dispute between France and Turkey over quay privileges.

Burglary at Dr Van Winter’s Office in Colman Building

Thieves broke into the Colman building on Firat Avenue Tuesday night at Dr Van Winter’s office. A large number of valuable articles were taken but the space shows little disturbance other than missing pale gold plates fillings and polishing tools. No trace of the thieves has been secured.

Eben L. Boyce, condemned for murder, arranges his last hours in the county courthouse yard. The death warrant appeal was denied by Judge Snell, and the execution is set for 6:30 tomorrow morning. Royce remains calm, with father and priest nearby. He will face the gallows in the same room where Michael was hanged in 1900.

Automatic Telephone Co's New Exchange Building Planned

The Automatic Telephone Co unveils plans for a Fourth avenue building between Spring and Seneca ag ees north of the First Presbyterian church. The 40 by 120 foot two story brick structure features stone terra cotta and pressed brick exterior, two 14 foot high floors, and a 28 foot basement housing storerooms drafting and chemical labs. Main floor fronts Fourth with managers offices rear business and reception rooms, and most of the rear houses the girl operators dining and recreation area. The exchange will have two 16 horsepower engines with a spare. Construction starts within 10 days at an estimated cost of 40 000 to 50 000.

Ex-Selby Smelter Employee Held After Gold Bar Theft

Buck Taylor, former Selby smelter employee, was arrested and subjected to intensive police questioning. Officials believe he may have confessed to the bold robbery, with secrecy surrounding the develop ment and a bloodhound trail attempt hindered by time elapsed.
