A Seattle jury awards former City Engineer R. H. Thomson $15,000 against the Seattle Times. Verdict read at 9:30 Friday morning after a Thursday trial start. Foreman A. J. Olmstead led eight women and four men in the hour and a half deliberation. No appeal filed. other Times suits not addressed.
Mrs. Cushman of 11 West Republican Street fled to Tacoma to escape her father in law James T Cushman and his hired detectives. She says the pursuit aims to obtain evidence for a divorce for her husband Thomas J Cushman. Pharmacist Sylvester Scott Frank Daily, alleged sleuth, was arrested and set for May 27 trial. Warrants exist for other detectives.
Chief tuberculin tester Dr. Smith of the city health department works in the Cedar River district examining cows whose milk is sold in Seattle. Applications to the health commissioner’s office pour in from dairymen, including M. Bricksell with 24 cows, A. Bergh with one cow, John A. Fay with 25 cows, S.
