Denver April 26 In a proposed Colorado bill condemned murderers would die under observation of a scientist after inoculation with a food poison rather than in the gallows. Advocates say animal testing would yield accurate data on poisons effects while satisfying the states demand that criminals pay with their lives.
Los Angeles mourns as Rabbi Isidor Myers a noted Jewish leader is killed in a traffic accident late last night. He is the father of Carmel Myers a motion picture favorite. The tragedy casts a pall over Jews in Los Angeles and the Southwest.
Chief of Police W. H. Searing suspended Patrolman Peter J. Shelling indefinitely pending investigation. Shelling is hospitalized in serious condition after a weeklong alleged drinking revel. Fred Green 49 hotel owner and Louise Colman 27 are held on open charges in the city fall accused of robbing Shelling.
Washington April 26 Bonus legislation stalled in the senate finance committee as readers pressed for tariff bill amendments. Indications point to several days before further progress on drafting the bonus measure. Republican members held bonus conversations but the tariff bloc barred progress seeking a further hearing on rate changes.
McCecil M. Carter city clerk of Sumner and secretary of the Sumner Commercial club was found dead on Northern Pacific tracks in Tacoma. He had one leg severed and his body mangled, believed killed by a switch engine. A watch and 14.20 in cash were found. Carter formerly served with the Northwest Mounted Police.

Tunis April 26 Four communists were arrested after police unearthed a plot to assassinate President Millerand on his arrival. The gang planned an attack upon the president of the republic during his visit this week.
A radio message from Captain Miller and Commander Bartlett of naval plane No. 90 reports the Santa Maria, missing since Monday, is safe. The six aboard were forced to descend off Andros Island due to fuel shortage and were taken aboard a fishing boat headed for Nassau.
Superior court filed first degree forgery charges against Mark Holmes. Prosecutors Malcolm Douglas and John D. Carmody say Holmes cashed a worthless check for 118.50 dollars and tried to pass additional checks.
The flood toll in North Central Texas reaches about 30 dead with 2,500 homeless and millions in damage as the Trinity River flood peaks. Fort Worth reports 24 dead, widespread looting fears prompt armed patrols, and relief efforts expand while railroad traffic remains halted. Weatherford and other towns suffer eight inch rains and cloudbursts.
Two bombs exploded at the Jencks Spinning Co. and Crown Manufacturing Co. textile mills in Pawtucket Rhode Island causing minor damage. Workers at both plants were on strike at the time.
