About 500 delegates from Oregon Washington and Idaho formed the Columbia Basin Irrigation League in Pasco with Charles B Hurley of Tacoma chosen as future chair. Charlies Hebberd of Spokane acts as temporary chair. Trustees from multiple districts named and a drive in congress for a basin commission bill was planned.
In Pasco on April 22 a Pacific Northwest conference launched the Columbia Basin Irrigation League to develop the Columbia River basin. Delegates from Idaho, Washington, Oregon and beyond pledged support, chose temporary leadership, and laid plans for a regional irrigation and development organization.

Andrew Shaw, 40, a city water department employee, was fatally injured when a car struck him as he stood with a red flag warning of unsafe paving on Allison Street near Franklin Avenue. The driver, alleged to ignore Shaw's signal, fled after the front wheel passed over him. Shaw was taken to the city hospital with brain concussion and possible skull fracture. The vehicle's license allegedly belonged to Charles Thompson of Kirkland. no arrest had been made.
More than 200 miners gather in Charles Town West Virginia awaiting trials for assault to murder and treason tied to the Logan county miners walkout. The proceedings could shape the future of unionism and operator relations in the state as UMW leaders and mine operators face a titanic legal clash. The town, buzzing with visitors, recalls John Brown era and the historical echo under the Shenandoah valley.
Five dead and 30 injured in a line of blast that wrecked a Downey service station and nearby homes. Victims include Edward Vandegriff 58 Keater Johnson a high school student William C Jarvis Clyde Weirback and Walter Pulley. Firefighters were among the injured.

Ex-jurist and Western Union messenger W W Clough, 66, was to marry Ellen Hopkins, 58, but the engagement collapsed on the eve of the wedding. Sterling, April 22. The body of John Larson, 70, a wealthy rancher who lived alone on his Crook area property, was found yesterday by county authorities under a hay pit in his barn. He had been killed by a shotgun.
Word spreads in Pasco and Seattle that Gov Louie Hart plans to run again. Republican leaders meet in Seattle to induct and endorse his administration and code. Supporters cite Hart bookkeepers figures claiming substantial state savings under his term.
The state Republican convention to be held in Chehalis on June 10 will elect delegates in a method chosen by the central committee. Debate centered on a hand picking plan favored by many, with some fearing it creates a hand picked convention. Governor Hart will speak at a banquet and William Laurie will discuss the national administration.
