Seattle shipyard workers celebrate as the 8,800 ton steel steamship West Lianga slides into the water after 55 days from keel laying. The crew will finish fittings and deliver to the United States Shipping Board in 16 days. The launch renews the Skinner & Eddy record in rapid ship construction.

Some were wounded in action while others displayed unusual bravery under fire and attended wounded men under trying conditions.
