Jap Smugglers Get Six Month Sentence
Federal Judge E. B. Cushman sentenced T. Salto and M. Fujiwara to six months in county jail for smuggling Japanese into the United States. They were part of the Alabama Maru crew involved after seven Japanese stowaways were discovered aboard last October 20. In Spokane, trial of Harry Willmes, 84, for murder of Harry Hatton was postponed to Friday due to jury shortage.

Giant US sea plane to cross Pacific in early next spring
The United States navy plans a trans Pacific flight with a giant sea plane nicknamed the giant boat. Built at Philadelphia and East Greenwich and with propellers by American Propeller of Baltimore the craft is designed for a 110 mph cruise, 30 000 pound lifting capacity and a 3 000 mile radius. It may carry at least 12 crew.

Girl Sentenced on Burglary Charge in Walla Walla
