Mayor Hanson Faces First Month With Busy Reforms

In his first 30 days in office Mayor Ole Hanson enacted audits and staff changes, secured steam railway access for Seattle shipyards, cut city lighting costs by about 30000 yearly, and trimmed payroll by 20 police roles while detailing 73 waterfront guards. He reappointed Chief War ren and appointed Grover A. Conklin as secretary, while pursuing statewide quarantine plans and state power-site reviews. Hanson pressured federal aid and transport reconsideration, met telegram campaigns, and planned future municipal savings. He also personally scouted the Skagit power site with Councilman Thomson, who bills Hanson for expert engineering work.
