Garfield's assistants questioned R C Rawlins and R N Allen Chanute producers as the survey continues in the area over several days.
Police arrested Emilio Allosine after Alfred Detpero accused him of stealing $35. Chief Hee Delaney and Sgt Peer found the money hidden in a stocking. Allosine confessed after denial. He allegedly slipped $25 from $35 paid for trousers while purchasing shoes. a complaint will be filed with Prosecuting Attorney Mackintosh.
A navy dispatch from Pensacola reports an eight inch gun on the battleship Iowa exploded during target practice. The muzzle was blown off and nine crew members were injured. The gun had been fired 108 times.
In Rawsonville Idaho on April 15 a calf owned by Elbin Randall reportedly committed suicide by wandering into a deserted cabin, shutting the door behind it and starving after being unable to reopen it.

Congress man J N Williamson was arraigned in federal district court to plead to indictments by the grand jury over Oregon City land frauds. He filed demurrers to both indictments. Steamer Jefferson of Alaska Steamship sailed for Skagway with 45 passengers and full freight. among passengers were ex Senator Harper and Allen Weir bound for the north to probe mining interests.
