Washington April 13 Navy orders rush Hartford from Mare Island to sea at once to reinforce Admiral Kautz in Samoa. The Ranger may join Hartford. England plans two additional warships in Samoan waters. Hartford likely carries a sizable force for action.
Reports from Manila describe a night assault on a Third artillery outpost at Malolos with two Americans killed and two wounded. Prisoners claim six insurgent officers were executed after expressing surrender interests.
Elmer Johnson of Interbay faces a charge of selling liquor without a license. The case was continued to tomorrow after a morning discussion among Judge Cann City Attorney De Bruler and attorney Gill about a bottle labeled malt extract. The judge proposed opening the bottle for jury consideration, which Gill objected to.
Funeral services for Amon Brown were conducted at 1110 First Avenue by Rev. W. S. Harrington of Trinity M. B. church. The home was crowded with friends and Seattle pioneers, who formed the largest such gathering in years. Pioneers Dexter Horton, W. S. Drew, A. McClain, M. R. Maddocks, Griffith Davis, and Capt. Gilman served as pallbearers as the body was laid to rest.
A large gathering of friends and many Democrats joined Mr. Brownemoe at the event. Among the attendees were John Bulivan Geo Kelley John Meagher John Haley Geo Kinnear J W Sweasey G P Btone O C Bhorey J J Melivern George Newhall and numerous others from Port Gamble and nearby communities.
Tacoma announces the creation of a semi professional league with Seattle and Tacoma as principal supporters and Victoria likely to join by mid May. The schedule will feature games on Saturdays and Sundays only.
A five member family traveling from Clay City Kansas to Odentown Maryland arrived in Washington after starting mid November. Charles Roberts six and his family trekked largely on foot carrying packs with cooking gear bedding and clothes. Roberts estimates the route to be about 1509 miles as they plan to continue toward Maryland to resume farming there.
Judge Penson allowed L. E. Nelson a judgment for £201.80 plus costs against Frank B. Gimme. Judge Jacobse signed a decree granting L. F. Bowman a $1,655 judgment against M. McTeigh. Mary Goldberg secured judgment against John Dorritter and wife. Fred W. West obtained a judgment for $1,979.83 against Thomas Moran and wife plus costs. Judge Jacobs signed a default judgment in the divorce case Cordelia F. Cowles vs Henry Vv. Cowles.
A trading expedition from MacDougall and Southwick will sail mid May aboard the Nellie G Thurston to the Arctic coast to trade furs ivory and whalebone. H A Edwards will command with pilot William Quintall as another member. The party will visit East Cape Whalen Cape Bridge Point Clarence Point Hope and Koteebue Sound and remain throughout the summer before returning in late November.
The Snoqualmie Pass road project now has funding from all three counties. The last legislature allotted 1000 dollars with King county to add 700 and Kittitas county 900, totaling 2000. Kittitas county agreed to contribute 200 and commissioners Royce and Gileon voted to provide 700 in King county’s absence. The road serves heavy summer traffic and a tender arrangement is planned.

Mrs Henrietta W Van Wyck of Newburg New Mexico died near Gallup New Mexico when she left a chair car in darkness and walked from a rear platform. The second train section then ran over her, mangling the body and severing head and legs. Papers on her person identified her.

Myron Skinner of West Point Hardin County Kentucky died March 10 from shock after freezing on a Yukon trail while traveling toward civilization from Eagle City Alaska He had been in Alaska since August 22 and his family learned of his hardships from a friend in the distant region.
County Commissioners Gilson Smith and Boyce returned from Spokane where they studied the tract indexing system used by Spokane County auditor. They found the system favorable but would not adopt it yet due to high costs. They estimate one million descriptions in King County and seek a lower rate than 3 percent per description, aiming for about 20 000. no contract will be awarded until a smaller rate is named.
