Spokane April 4 Judge R M Webster of the juvenile court faced sharp criticism for ordering a special grand jury to probe high school morals. He cites rising child delinquency and misconduct near schools, with liquor and narcotics reportedly in restaurants. Inland Empire Teachers association attacked jazz music and modern dancing as moral dangers at their convention.
Washington April 8 Gen Semenoff a Cossack and Bolshevik chief now out on bail in New York on charges related to a fur importing firm faces expulsion from the United States. Senator Borah announces plans to have him ejected on the grounds he killed American soldiers and butchered innocent women and children.
Dan Landon mayoralty candidate spoke in Mountain View in the North Green Lake district Friday night urging tied autobus transportation for outlying districts. James T. Lawler, president of the Tax Reduction council, endorsed Landon’s candidacy.
An editor reports Count George H du Barry of Seattle offered to donate a piano to the women at King County jail on condition no jazz music be played. He cited reverence for music and faith, while jail inmates say they mostly play classical pieces and thank him for the gesture.

Police traffic chief Lieut. C. G. Carr says Seattle residents ignore efforts to curb rising auto deaths. The department vows harsher penalties and license suspensions to curb recklessness. First quarter 1922 traffic deaths reach 18, with 815 injuries and 1,884 accidents versus 2,084 incidents and 372 injuries in 1921. Only two women were killed in 1922.

Judge Jean P. Day millionaire was to testify at the coroner s jury regarding the death of Lieut. Col. Paul Ward Beck at his home. Day planned to describe a party, Beck s confrontation, and an accidental revolver blast while defending his wife s honor. Prosecutor Forest Hughes pursued other angles as army officers from Fort Sills attended the inquest.

A Pathetic cyclone ripped through Lawton Ranger Cisco Ballinger and Ardmore areas injuring several and killing at least six people. Homes were leveled, fires broke out, and many residents fled in night clothes as crews battled wreckage and searched for survivors. The storm damaged rail facilities and left a large property loss noted near a million dollars.
Floods along the river caused nearly half a million dollars in damage in Beardstown as high water threatened the town. Volunteers labored through the night to shore up the levee while observers reported the crest at 22.1 feet, believed to be the peak with the city saved for now.
Capt Roald Amundsen the explorer will depart New York for Seattle next week. The Universal Ship and Co local agent H H Hammer stated the explorer may not pilot the flight himself. The exact departure date was not fixed.
Paris reports the seventh victim of a midair collision between a British express plane and a Goliath passenger plane near Thieulley. Pilot Duke died in hospital, marking the most terrible accident in European civilian aviation.
