Miss Rogers recounts a brutal hazing incident at Purdue University Ladies Hall on January 22. Seniors allegedly broke into a freshman’s room, stripped her, covered her with red ink and mucilage, pricked her with pins, and dunked her in cold water. The victim, Mabel Robiers, was deeply distressed and ill after the attack.
Architect A. Warren Gould holds nine thousand dollars of a forty five thousand dollar fee and broad influence under the current contract. Her 11 and 7 year old children slept with her in jail as officers seek temporary homes for them. The incident followed an earlier store concealment of valuables under rain coats on Spruce Street.
The charter revision committee may again examine the Hinky Dink plan for 30 ward councilmen. Bouillon and others who opposed it previously signaled votes against if brought up. The group endorsed two new departments and a maximum 15 mill tax levy, but defenders argued it was too low.
W A Scripps III of Pasadena is said to be seriously ill at his home with pneumonia and heart disease. his condition described as grave based on reports from the city.
In Ellensburg Washington Sheriff investigates injuries to S M Gage Milwaukee section hand said to have fallen from a handcar. Gage asserts he was shot by a section boss while two coworkers rushed him to hospital. An ad touts Hyatt-Fowells business school as high class.
