Lieut Colonel Maus testified the refrigerated beef sickened soldiers at Jacksonville. A full company of the second Clinots fell ill and many contracted typhoid fever. Lieut Colonel Currie echoed the claim. General Miles urged summoning more witnesses, saying 26000 could testify to the beef’s poor quality.

The matter concerns Me Governor Montpelier injured by a locomotive and treated with brandy supplied by Freeman under physician direction. The state seeks Freeman's arrest after a transcript revealed possible prohibition law violations.
