Valentine Script Claim Rejection Explained
The United States Department of the Interior denied J. C. Aldrich's Valentine script claim on Seal Beach land. At last Monday's council meeting the department's report outlined the denial reasons: land within city limits, mineral in character, and used for recreational purposes. Aldrich had until January 8 to appeal.

Council Writes Letter Urging Better Bus Service
Long Beach to Seal Beach service was urged at the council meeting. Dana Williams was instructed to write to the Long Beach Bus company asking that service be limited to Termina. Mayor Gamntner and Williams plan a visit to Montebello to study its bus system for costs and potential profits. Fire Causes $20 Damage at Sunset Beach
A stove pipe overheated a frame wall at 231 25th street Sunset Beach Wednesday night around 9 o clock starting a fire. Seal Beach firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze leaving about $20 in damage.

Margaret Legerton Dies at L A Hospital
Mrs. Margaret E. Legerton aged 86 died at St. Marys hospital Thursday afternoon after a lingering illness. She underwent a major operation for gall bladder infection caused by gall stones shortly before death. Funeral services will be at Pierce brothers mortuary in Los Angeles with interment in Grandview Memorial park Glendale. Surviving are her daughter Lalita Norton and son Curtis C. Legerton.

Ration Board Holds Christmas Party Thursday
Fifteen members of the local Office of Price Administration gathered Thursday morning at the ration board headquarters for a Christmas party. The group enjoyed refreshments of cookies, candy and coffee, and gifts were exchanged. Mrs. Ellen Congreve received a flower bowl and vase. Attendees included many from Los Alamitos and Seal Beach.
