Thanksgiving Day Wedding Unites Stella Thompson and Lt Gregory
Stella Jeannette Thompson married First Lieutenant Wilbur Gregory of the Army Air Corps on Thanksgiving Day November 23 in Seal Beach. The ceremony was conducted by Reverend F Bruce Ellis with close family in attendance. The couple plan to live at Fort Thomas Kentucky after Christmas with Mrs Gregory continuing teaching duties until June.

Legion Auxiliary volunteers collect pocketbook gifts for veterans
At the November 22 meeting the Legion Auxiliary agreed to support Eddie Cantor program gifting pocket mystery books to hospitalized World War II veterans. Members should donate usable pocketbooks by December 10 to Nola Thomas at the police station. Next meeting is December 14 at City Hall with social hour to follow. Mrs. Jessie Voight presiding in Rae Mathis’s absence and initiation of new members planned.

The Community church has just purchased the vacant lot directly south of the current property, increasing frontage to 75 feet on 10th street. The lots measure 117 feet deep. Papers are in escrow and money is being raised for the land purchase. No immediate building is planned, but future expansion may require more property.
